Wouldn't it be wonderful if every child came to school happy, healthy and ready to learn? Unfortunately, many children arrive in the classroom full of worries, anger and other troubles that make it difficult for them to learn.
Play Therapy is a form of child psychotherapy which provides children with a safe space to explore and express their thoughts and feelings. They are not required to 'talk through their experiences' like counselling techniques, but rather they 'play out' what is happening for them in their world.
Play Therapy is an evidenced based practice. Research shows that between 77% and 84% of children show a positive change through the use of play and creative arts therapies in the UK.
I offer play therapy services to schools and organisations in and around Surrey.
An initial consultation in your school or organisation would provide the opportunity to discuss the level of therapeutic services needed and how I can best meet this.
My services might include
I currently offer both half and full day rates. As part of a half day I will work with 2 children, a full day will be with 4/5 children.

Play Therapy is particularly useful for children aged 3yrs to 16yrs who have experienced trauma or who display emotional or behavioural difficulties, including:
Emotional
Anxiety, low self-esteem, low-confidence, anger, sadness, confusion, unhappiness.
Behavioural
Withdrawn, aggression, relationship difficulties, defiance, acting out, poor impulse control.
Neurodivergent children, including Autism, ADHD, ODD and Tourette Syndrome.

Play Therapy gives children the tools to cope with life challenges. It may alter a child's behaviours and improve their social and emotional well-being through developing the following:
Self-esteem, self-confidence + self acceptance
Resilience
Problem-solving and decision making skills
Recognising and understanding their thoughts and feelings
Healthy coping strategies
Healthier relationships (improved empathy, respect and trust in others)
Reduction in anxiety
Language and fine motor skills
Playfulness and creativity
Addresses the needs of at risk children
When a child grows in these areas it leads to a happier child and healthier relationships in school and at home.
