If you cannot find the answer to your question please fill out the contact form or email bud2bloomplaytherapy@gmail.com and I will happily answer them for you :)
My private Play Therapy sessions are based at The Spike Heritage Centre just 5 minutes drive from Guildford town centre. The building has a waiting area for parents/carers to wait whilst the session runs if they wish. There is also a playground outside the building for you and your child to use if you wish.
Please email me to arrange a free 30 min consultation. Within this call I will gain information about your child to assess if play therapy is suitable. I will also share fees and answer any questions you may have.
No. Individual play therapy just involves the child and the therapist.
Play therapy provides a safe and confidential space for children to work through their experiences and difficulties. Children are free to share details of their sessions with whomever they like, if they choose to. I promise them I will not tell others what they do or say in their play therapy sessions; However, should your child speak of anything that suggests that they or someone else is in danger, then confidentiality will be lifted and if necessary appropriate authorities will be contacted. In such circumstances your child will be informed that this will happen and where possible I will discuss concerns with parents first.
Although I cannot share details of your child’s sessions, I am happy to share progress and offer therapeutic parenting advice. This will be shared in our parent/carer meetings which I recommend we schedule for every 6/8 weeks over the course of a play therapy programme. Parents can feel free to contact me in between sessions if they have any questions or concerns.
If we agree that Play Therapy may be suitable we will then meet for an initial assessment meeting which lasts around 1.5 hour. In this meeting I will gain in depth information about the child, family history and also give further information about Play Therapy.
Parents/Carers know their child best and being supportive of the therapy is key to healing. I like to form a confidential and trusting relationship with you so that we can work together as a team, to best help your child bloom and flourish into their best selfs.
I will provide an End of Play Therapy Report upon request, for an additional fee.
Referrals are accepted from parents/ legal guardians, social workers, GP's, clinical psychologists, teachers, learning mentors and fostering agencies. I am currently in the process of being registered with Guildford's Local Authority so that I can work with adopted children.
Play therapy can only be undertaken with the consent of the person/s holding legal guardianship of the child.
If you believe your child or a child in your care could benefit from play therapy, please contact me via email for further details.
